Last year I re-homed my cat and gave her to a lady from a Facebook page. She messaged me last week asking for my dad's phone number to ask him a question since he's a veterinarian. She called him today asking him if he could declaw the cat because her boyfriend and his cat are moving in with her soon (she wants that cat declawed too) and she is worried they might not get along, potentially clawing at her very expensive furniture. She is adamant about getting them declawed even though they might not even touch the furniture. My dad told her to try keeping the cats apart for a while and that declawing is not "in vogue" anymore but he says she had her mind made up. I think this whole thing is really stupid considering how bad declawing is and there are other options like putting plastic over the furniture or putting caps on their claws. My dad doesn't think declawing is a big deal since he says he does it right and that the cats he has declawed don't have any problems. My dad says he won't do it if I really don't want him to but she would probably find someone else to do it who might not do the declawing as well as him. Should I message the lady telling her how bad declawing would be even though she might not listen? Or tell my dad not to do the declawing? I'm really concerned about the cats
