Is this normal? I've been noticing my senior dog (12yo small breed) seems less interested in playing these days and mostly just wants to cuddle up together. I can get him to play a few rounds of fetch here and there throughout the day, but after a few rounds he'll usually stop and start sniffing around the yard or run up to the door with his toy and ask to be let inside. Sometimes, if I let him in and stay outside, he'll ask to be let back outside and will stare at me until I walk in with him.
There are a number of other things that have changed, he was predominantly an outdoor dog for most of his life but since coming back home from school last Fall I have convinced everyone to keep him indoors. Because he is indoors now we do spend a lot of time sitting together and cuddling, so could this just be him getting used to having cuddle time? Or is this just a sign of his age, or an ailment? I'm most worried he does not want to play because he is in pain, but he isn't showing any signs otherwise.
