Terminal illness of owner of cats

Hi,

I recently found out that I have a terminal illness that gives me < 1 yr, potentially much less. I have adopted a total of 3 feral cats over the years that I expected to take care of for the rest of their lives, and they are still young and less than 8 years each. They have since become indoor only for years, well fed and cared for, and I love each of them very much. They would not have the means to survive on their own anymore.

I have no friends or family and am not connecting with anyone at this point in my life, and they are the only remaining connection I would be worried about. I am concerned about dropping them at a shelter and having them immediately put down terrified and by themselves once I pass (or even before) due to their age, and I don't know how to find a private person who would want to adopt them.

What is the best way to ensure that they will be taken care of, or is this just completely unreasonable to even expect? Should I just put them down in advance to save them from abuse since they will likely be immediately euthanized or suffer anyway? Sorry for the grim post, I don't have anyone to talk to about this.

Thanks.
