5 month old kitten randomly bites after playtime

So I have a 5 month old kitten whom I love very much and I got him at about 8 weeks old from someone who can't take care of him. He's the only cat in the house and I know you guys might say to just get another kitten so he can have someone to play with but the thing is, my mom won't let me have another one in the house as much as I want to. I have given him everything he needs like toys, cat tree, bed, etc. Anyways, I do play with him a lot until he's tired and panting but even then he'll start to play again. During this period he'll have moments where he'll lay on the ground and rests then as I'm walking away and not looking at him he'll just randomly pounce on me and bite. I usually yelp really loud then he backs off. Sometimes, I hiss at him or put him in time out. I also tried scruffing and pushing him down gently. I don't play with him using my hands but he always goes after my legs or feet. Idk if I'm doing it wrong but this cat does not get the hint that biting and pouncing on me is a no no cause he'll do it again at a different day.

I know it's probably because he's too young and has tons of energy but I guess I'm too scared he'll bite my face although he's never done that. He's also not yet neutered but I'm already planning to have him done. He's usually affectionate but the random attacks do give me heart attacks sometimes lol

I just want to know if you guys have any experience like this and how did you guys got it to stop and how long did it take your cat to get the hint?
