I’m June of this year my beloved 18 year old chihuahua passed away and I am ready to adopt again. I am looking for a chihuahua or other small breed and there is a lot of competition in my area. I check petfinder and adoptapet nearly every day and some will be gone within a 24 hour period. The ones that don’t get adopted fast are either seniors or have health/behavior problems. Recently my friend found a chihuahua that is a former show dog and is around the age I was looking for (5). I was hoping for a rescue but I’m not opposed to this situation. My question is, do they make ok pets? The person who has her has several other dogs and they all appear to be loved and well taken care of but she is going through a divorce and needs to “downsize”. She has also described her as very sweet and gets along with other dogs and people well. She doesn’t currently have any known health issues but I would need to get her spayed. With this type of situation I am worried about the dog being heartbroken and not want to bond with me and my bf if we adopt her. Does anyone have any experience or advice if we choose this route?
