I was relaxing in my PC when I heard my cat struggling and meowing very violently. I went quickly to see what was happening and she had her chest hair stuck in her teeth somehow. I started panicking, trying to pull the hair out of her teeth, but she was obviously scared and started scratching and biting me. She was moving a lot so it was very difficult to pull the hair out. I finally was able to get it out of her mouth.
My mom said that this may have happened again some time ago but the cat could get the hair out by herself. But I'm really scared, she really seemed to be fighting for her life and I can't think what could've happened if she was home alone.
I don't really know if she was choking because, technically she had her mouth opened (she couldn't close her mouth obviously because the hair was avoiding that) so maybe she was able to breath, but the panic on her...
She has a lot of hair, she usually vomits because of this. We try to brush her hair very often, and cut with scissors the tangled hair. We sometimes give her cat malt (is that how you say it in english? whatever, it's something that helps the cat's digestion).
Please, I need advices, how do I avoid this?
(I hope you understand everything I'm trying to say, english is not my first language and it was difficult to explain what happened.)
