Needing some juvenile kitty advice please...

I've had cats for the majority of my life, but have only had this issue if I had multiple cats and litter boxes that filled up faster than I could clean them up, but that's not the case. I clean out our box daily and if possible every time I notice a poo it gets scooped out asap. BUT, our new kitten, who the vet puts at about 4 to 6 months old gets his feet and often more covered in kitty shitty almost every time he uses his box! He is 100% litter trained, so not making messes any where else and one of the best cats I've had, gets along with our doggos and loves everything and everyone even the toddlers!! But he's making unsanitary, disgusting messes every where. We lost our last cat by letting him come and go indoors and outdoors as he pleased, but even though people sat I'm mean our Sandor ( yes GoT name) is never allowed out, but I can't think this has any effects on his issues. I've tried the litter box mats that catch the excess litter mess trapped in paws, but this is full blown crap that hes walked through, being deposited all through my house which he shares with small children, even on beds and furniture! Also,if I dont catch him and clean him right away, he messes the feces all ovee himself in an effort to clean up himself. I'm talking daily nasty messes... is he too young and awkward and can grow out of this, is there something I can do? I called the vet, who wants another 120$ for a visit when I asked him about it a month ago when he was getting fixed and shots etc........I cant keep exposing my family to this but i cant get rid of him! Any ideas or knowledge or experience dealing with this would really be great!!! Thanks
