I'm just at a loss with Cricket. I got him 3 years ago for my son for Christmas, and hes generally a cuddly fun loving cat....
....but he treats the entire house as a litter box.
I'm just tired of being worried about any sweaters or towels being left out reeking of cat piss- of having to rewash the same pillows over and over, and scrubbing our couch clean several times a week. He's been doing this off and on for almost 2 years, and it's disgusting. I've got a 7 year old in the house and we're hoping to have another child in the next year or so.
My parents mentioned we should put him down, something my wife's parents agreed with- but that seems so mean spirited and cruel. I know that I don't want to give him to the overburdened cat shelters or give him to a new home- not unless it's someone I dislike...
And I've contacted his vet about him having urinary issues in the past- something about peeing blood- but he hasn't done anything like that in nearly 2 years. They suggested surgery twice the price of my car....
So I just dunno. I don't wish to harm him, I just don't want my floors to be covered in an oily residue no matter how much I mop.
Is just tossing him outside an option? He's almost never stepped foot out there....
