Hey y’all In short I need to know what I can do if I think someone should not have their animals due to a lack of care
. One of my old friends moved in with me a couple months back. After a few weeks she wanted to get a dog so I was like ok nice! So she got this sweet dog that was a big energetic mix. It was fine at first but twards the end of the first week it started getting bad. She made it clear it was her dog and I did too so it was her sole responsibility. I would see through the day that her dog wouldn’t have water in it’s dish and give her a heads up only to see hours later she wouldn’t ever fill it.
Then it started with her taking it outside twice a day. Mind you I live in a small apartment. I would come home and this dog would be all over me unlike it was before wanting outside. A neighbor even told me it cried the the entirety of our work days.
The dog started shitting everywhere and posing everywhere. Here’s the kicker SHE WOULDN’T CLEAN UP HER DOGS SHIT IN MY HOUSE. I would be like hey there’s some poop and she would lay on the couch on her phone and yell at her dog and then just be like meh.
Then her dog ran out of food. She said she didn’t have money to buy more-_- He was so hungry and I could tell, she would just feed him her food and then he would get diahreah and shit more all over. For a couple days I was like dude your dog needs food and she wouldn’t give him any and said to see if he will eat my cats wet food and he did. I figured it was better than nothing:(
I’m passive as heck and I finally got the courage to ask her to clean up the poop bluntly as she didn’t do it before. I kid you not she got a Walmart sack started smearing it into my carpet and laminate and picking up a little of the chunks. I was horrified and absolutely disgusted with the awful space I never left my room.
I end up having to feed this dog food with my own money and make sure he has water and everything and I’m trying my hardest to not show her I’m taking the responsibility I was just heartbroken for this poor guy living in filth being neglected.
So the last day. She’s gone from 9 AM (didn’t let him out then) until like 5. She’s five mins away from home at family’s house the entire time. This dog is crying and almost busting down my bedroom door because he needs to go outside and receive some attention too. I text her like hey I think you should come home your dog is crying I think he needs to go to the bathroom bad he’s been alone all day and she doesn’t respond but leaves me on seen.
I text her at 6 and I tell her bro you need to come get your dog. And again nothing so 6:30 I text her and I tell her hey I think you need to take your dog back to the shelter my house is disgusting I can’t go into my kitchen because of the filthy mess your dog made that hasn’t been cleaned, he is a working dog and I don’t think he’s happy being in a small space with little attention, doesn’t get along with my cat yada yada I ask her to clean up all the shit everywhere nicely explaining the basics of its super unhealthy and if my landlord saw it I would be evicted right off the bat. I’m pretty nice about it.
She comes home and is slamming things at 6:45 and is like I’m taking my dog to my apartment since I’m still on that lease for another month and we are spending the night there tonight. I’m like ok cool. When she leaves I check to see if she at least cleaned up the poop. NOPE.
So Im crying on the phone to my fiancé who lives another town over and he’s so mad he texts her and is nicer than I thought he would be, just basicly saying hey look if you are a roommate with someone you need to clean up after yourself and That includes your dog. My girlfriend hasn’t been able to use her kitchen for two weeks because of the mess your dog has covered it with and that isn’t acceptable. He suggested giving it away and waiting for a time she can be able to take care of a dog.
Right after that she texted me and told me she was coming to get all her stuff the next day and is moving out and would clean my kitchen floor. I came home the next day to basicly no difference and smears everywhere still and trash everywhere from her and her dog tearing through the garbage spreading it everywhere. I know where she’s staying is also covered in filth and I’ve been debating doing something. I have pictures of how she left my kitchen/living room where she was staying if anyone’s Interested.
Today I saw she posted she just got a kitten on top of this all and I feel so aweful for that animal. She can’t even afford her dog how can she another animal. Living in those conditions is so horrible too I don’t know what do do.
I cannot speak to her directly anymore as she’s extremely mentally ill, to retaliate of us asking her to clean up her dogs poop she lied and tried ruining my life with awful rumors.
I feel so bad for these animals and I don’t know what I can do to help them. Does anyone have any ideas?
