I know some of you may be smart enough to know not to do this but let me just warn you. My sister has a little Shih Tzu named Lucky. She's playful and loves to cuddle. My sister that we'll call MS, loves to decorate Lucky. MS will put bows and clothes on her and she looked cute in everything. One day, she put a rubber band on her tail and some strings tied to her ears. Lucky didn't seem bothered, so we thought nothing of it. But we should have paid attention. Because of the rubber band tied to her she had her tail down, not up like a Shiba's tail like she usually has it. One night MS saw Lucky's tail bleeding. We examined it and realized the rubber band on her tail stopped her blood circulation. We cut it off and saw her skin was raw. We removed the strings tied to ears too. MS realized what she did to Lucky and was crying. She felt so guilty. Luckily her ears seemed fine so we just cleaned up her tail with some hydrogen peroxide. Lucky was shaking and it seemed as if she was crying. We took Lucky a bath to clean up the blood. Then, to get a closer inspection on her tail we cut her tail hairs. It was horrible. Lucky wouldn't stop shaking and her eyes were red. We let her tail rest the next day. She kept licking her tail which is probably what dogs do to a wound. We went to the vet later that day. Her tail was dead and we had to remove it. Remember what I said about her ears? They looked fine, right? One of her ears was dead too. We had to remove her tail and ear. MS was crying. She didn't want this to happen to Lucky. No one did. I don't want to go any further. But once Lucky has recovered I will post a picture. In case you didn't understand, do not put hair ties, rubber bands, strings, or anything that can stop blood circulation. If you want to decorate your dog, go to a professional. It can save your pet from going through what Lucky went through. This goes for all pets. This is a true story. Share and do whatever you can to make sure you or your friend's pets stay in one piece.
