[Advice] Cat Separation Anxiety/Loneliness/Boredom

So this is new and I'm trying to figure out some solutions.

I discovered tonight that my cat has been systematically destroying furniture, more than likely due to a mix of Loneliness, boredom & separation anxiety.

We're estimating it has been occurring for about two months, since the passing of his doggie buddy he spent much of the time with when the family was away from the house during the day. We've also been gone from the house more often due to jobs and other life reasons lately.

He has two cat trees (one of which I'm moving to a more central spot), toys, a new cat scratching rug, a cardboard box he loves spending time in, and places where he can watch out the windows. I'll fully admit I could spend more time playing with him.

Currently, I'm not sure about the option of getting him a companion, as he's been in a single cat household and has a very dominant personality (yes, he's fixed).

Are there any suggestions to help remedy this situation? I spend as much time as I can with him when I'm home, but I'm worried about when I can't be.

Thank You In Advance
