Advice needed for rabbit with severe looking eye infection

There is an area in my city, in a big park/wooded area near the beach, where a large group of rabbits live. There are dozens and dozens of them, and they are extremely tame - people bring vegetables for them and they will scamper right up to people. (I realize this isn't necessarily a good thing, but just wanting to give context). There's a theory that these rabbits are actually peoples ex-pets that they decided to release, which would explain their unique colouring and very tame natures.

I was at the park the other day and saw a rabbit that had a thick, opaque white discharge coming out of one of it's eyes. There was a *lot*. It looked like about a teaspoon of yogurt was pouring out if it's eye. Does anyone have experience of what this might be?

There is a great wildlife rescue in the area, but they are working limited hours because of COVID-19. Does anyone have any advice on how I should proceed helping this rabbit? Should I just leave him alone? Bring him to the wildlife centre which would undoubtedly stress him out? See if they will dispense antibiotics to me to try to administer? (I'm fairly certain if I went back to the area I would be able to find him since the rabbits are so friendly and you often see the same ones scampering about).

I just don't want to leave him there to suffer if something could be done to help him. Please let me know if you have any idea what he might be dealing with, and if you have any suggestions on what to do. Thanks!!
