Allergic to cats/dogs? Would you pay a lot for a truly allergy free pet?

Hi guys,

I have a scientist friend that has figured out a way to make allergy free cats and dogs by giving them a gene therapy to change the proteins that cause their allergies. This would be safe for the pet but it wouldn't be cheap at all to do, so I'm trying to help him figure out whether it's worth pursuing or not.

If you have allergies, would you be willing to pay $10,000 for a truly allergy free cat or dog? This could be financed over time similar to buying a car.

If not willing to pay that much, how much is the most you would be willing to pay?
