I was rejected by every shelter, and so now I’m happy to know I’ve exhausted the possibilities and can buy a dog.
I spent the last several months trying and failing, and watching the dogs I applied for linger on the websites. I lost several fees and spent an incredible amount of time searching, driving, applying, reapplying...now I’m finding a breeder on the AKC website.
I am wealthy, I work from home, grew up with dogs, and run every day. I have a big house with a big yard. My girlfriend and I have a cat we adopted nine years ago that we discovered in the walls of a public school where she worked in Brooklyn. She grew up with a lab. I’m not sure what they’re looking for.
I still feel bad about everything, and I wish I could help an animal in need, but I’ll feel better once this whole experience is behind me. I just want a dog, and I know it’ll have a happy home- I don’t care where it comes from or how I got it.
