I recently got a cat. When I first agreed to take him in I had thought he was already neutered.
He's about 2 years old now. The first 2 months with us he was calm. Only peed outside his litter box once and it was by the door. And that was in the first week we had him.
Then I went away for 5 days and my parents let him out into the garage. The problem is that another neighborhood cat had gotten in there before and marked the garage. So obviously our cat also started spraying all over the garage and the house as well to mark his territory.
They didnt tell me until I got back, and didnt clean anything or didnt clean it correctly, so he had an entire 5 days to spray everywhere and multiple times. I took him to the vet the next day to make an appointment for neutering but the closest appointment was 2 weeks away.
In the meantime I've been cleaning after him as much as possible. He's still spraying every single day, especially at dawn and at night. I can't keep up. In 30 minutes time he sprayed 6 different places in the garage and that was just what I could see.
His surgery is finally tomorrow.... I just want some consolation that he'll calm down.. I can't keep this up. I've gone through 2 bottles of the nature's miracle no more spray and have a giant bottle of the urine destroyer that I've pretty much almost entirely used up.
Would having him be an outdoor cat after this help out as well? I'm so tired. I love him but this has been awful :(
Did neutering help at all with spraying/marking?Pls share your experiences with me.
