Good morning folks. I'm not really a part of this sub but I'm sure one of you has some decent advice for me.
So I live alone in a small apartment in a sectioned off house. Lately I've been hearing the pathetic wines of a cat (maybe 4-5 months old) outside and I finally found the little bugger last night. I asked my neighbor if he thinks the landlord would care if I took the cat in and he said no. So I run to Walmart for some supplies and bring in the cat. (spent about $50, phew)
Last night was fine. He's a sweet boy. He's got a problem with his tail/hips and he's obviously got a sneeze and his eyes are kinda gross. Did my best to clean that up but I'm no vet.
I'm realizing that I don't think I can care for this stray cat. Like I said, I live alone and work a full-time job and have a lot of other obligations. This little man is gonna need a lot of attention, training and trips to the vet. My excitement of getting a cat got the better of me. (If it were a house trained cat I would probably feel differently.)
So my question is this: Should I put it back outside so he can live out the rest of his life freely, although in the cold or do I take him to a shelter, risking him being put down but I know if they have the room for him that they'll give him meds and help him be adoptable?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to do what's best for the little dude and what's best for me.
Thank you.
