how to wean a cat to pee on a carpet? i have two cats (female). they are 7 month old now and one of their favorite toilet is our carpet. both of them are healthy. first time they used a carpet as a toilet was 4-5 month ago. we thought that they did it because they did not get used to their toilet and because they were kittens yet. of course we cleaned our carpet a lot of times but that does not work. moreover, we showed our cats the place where their toilets are. we even puneshed them (no violence, just loud explanation that they do wrong). we used citrus (because it scares cats) and various specialized means. we put our carpet on the balcony for a few month to remove the smell from it and to wait for our cats grow. it passed 3 or 4 month while we were waiting to take it out of the balcony again. first days (maybe 3 or 4) cats smelled it but they did not pee on the carpet. today they finally did the thing they wanted. maybe you have some working methods of weaning cats or good ways to delete the smell once and forever?
