I (F22) can't stand my BF's (M25) two female cats who pee on my things and invade our things everytime we leave.

I am honestly not sure where to start and I am becoming extremely livid with these cats more and more as the days go on. I moved into my BF's apartment about 6 months ago and he has had these two cats for almost two years. I have always been a dog person but have liked cats as well. However, I have never lived with an indoor cat so I am unsure of what is common behavior in a cat and what to do in situations like this.

Initially, when moving in, I really adored his cats. We get along well, they are very friendly and love to sit in my lap and make sweet purr sounds. They even often prefer to sit on me rather than my BF's.
However, every time we leave, they find a way to cause mischief and it is driving me to the point of not wanting to be home anymore.

When we are around, they know they aren't allowed on tabletops, on the counters, or on the kitchen chairs. The floor, the cat tower, and the couch are the ONLY surfaces they are allowed to be on and they KNOW this. Our bedroom is a 'no cat' zone, and whenever we are home, they respect this (most of the time).

However, our apartment is over a hundred years old so our bedroom door does not latch anymore. Everytime we leave and come back, we find that they've pushed open the door and clawed their way into my wardrobe, his dresser drawers, or invaded beneath the bed. They knock my shirts down, they empty my sock and panties drawer (AS WELL as his), and lay on ALL of my neatly folded BLACK clothing. They have peed on bags in the bedroom that contain MY possessions that are near and dear to me, and we have even found pee on the KITCHEN COUNTER and literally some spots of the house reek of cat piss SO BAD but I can't even find the source. They vomit pretty frequently, I swear its like once a week. We've found DAYS OLD puke under our bed and I am just so frustrated. I don't even understand why this is happening???? Not to mention they shed so much hair you could literally make another pair of cats and I'm vaccuuming every other day because its just so much.

I am just so fed up with this and I don't know what to do. I will never ask or expect him to get rid of these cats because I know they were a source of comfort for him when he was in a really dark place, as how my dog is to me (who currently does not live with me BECAUSE of these cats). He works 50 hours a week, and I work about 40 so I'm home more often than he is and I just feel like I'm doing ALL of the cleaning up after his cats. Its exhausting. I don't mind to pitch in and help, but I am literally avoiding coming home at times because I know I'll be walking into a mess of pee, vomit, or hairy clothes and I don't want to clean up after these cats everytime I come home from work.

If we could just find someway to keep them out of the bedroom, I wouldn't be so upset about this. I don't even know what we can possibly do to prevent them from invading things because the door just won't shut. They find a way in, no matter what obstacle we put in the way. I also feel like no matter how much I clean the place, it just isn't getting clean and I have never felt so dirty in my life. I love my boyfriend so much, our relationship is happier day by day and I love the life we have together here. But these cats are making me want to rip my hair out and run away from this apartment and head back to my parents.

Please, reddit, what can I do to prevent them from ruining our things? What in the hell should I do?
