I have a 2 year old cat and a 6 month old kitten. They’re best friends and would constantly cuddle and play all day long.
We moved 2 weeks ago, and of course that was very stressful for them. The 2 year old was nervous the first couple days but quickly adjusted and is back to her normal self.
The 6 month old seemed fine from the beginning, checking things out didn’t seem nervous. But starting a few days after we’d moved in he suddenly doesn’t play at all or seem interested in anything. He eats and drinks water and uses the litter box like normal, and he follows me around but just seems to want to sleep and nothing else. I’m pretty worried about him. He went to the vet recently, like a month ago, and he had a uri and an ear infection but we treated both and there aren’t any signs of those anymore. So I’m not sure what it could be. Is he just stressed or depressed? Will he bounce back?
Has anyone else had a cat experience something similar?
Also, the older cat suddenly started pooping next to their water bowl. Every day. Today it was so bad that just cleaning it wasn’t enough, I threw out the bowl and mat it was on. I’m wondering if the tap water at our new place isn’t so good...it does have a smell to it. As of tonight, I’m giving them bottled water so maybe that’ll fix that. I’m really just at a loss and feeling overwhelmed.
