I’m not talking about your normal fearful dog. My 7 month old husky puppy is so afraid of people. I’ve had her since she was 7 weeks old. I am the only person she trusts and will let near her. She has spent so much time around my family. We go on walks and spend hours hanging out at home with her. My family has also tried to give her treats. My puppy is so scared that she will usually pee if my family gets close to her. It’s making my life so hard because I have to be so careful. Whenever I take her outside, I have to make sure nobody is around or else my dog will pee on the way out.
If my puppy is out of my room, she will sit by my door until I open it. Then she will run into her crate. She wants to spend all of her time there. I have to drag her out of the crate whenever she needs to go outside. This is getting very difficult because she is getting big, and I can’t do this for much longer. I’ve tried to get her out of the crate with treats but she isn’t interested. She never comes out unless I take her out. I have to bring her water all the time because she won’t come out on her own.
When I take her outside, she pulls on the leash as hard as she can because she is so scared to be outside if it isn’t dark. She’s getting so big that she pulls me. She’s is also too scared that she usually won’t go pee for hours more than she should be holding it, so I am constantly having to change my plans and I can’t go do things because I have to stay home to make sure she goes.
When we first got my puppy, she wasn’t scared of my family. She would let them hold her and pet her. A few days later it all changed and she got so scared that she wouldn’t let them touch her. They have never done anything to hurt her or scare her so I don’t know why she is acting this way.
I have tried so many times to put my puppy on my dads lap. She will stay there for hours and let him pet her. But when I take her outside, she acts like he is a stranger again and won’t let him near her. She loves to play with my dad outside and chase him but she always keeps a distance. She will run away if he tries to pet her.
I took her to a puppy training class that lasted 6 weeks. She stayed in the corner the whole time. I couldn’t even get her to look at me. She was so scared that I couldn’t get her to do any tricks, and she wouldn’t socialize with the other puppies at all.
I’ve asked multiple people for advice, and nothing works. Everyone is telling me that it will just take time. It has been months since I had her and she isn’t showing any improvement with my family and she sees them all the time. This situation is making me so stressed and depressed. I feel so bad for my puppy and I don’t know what to do anymore. If anyone has advice I would really appreciate it.
