I have a 10 month old male cat named Jasper. he is the sweetest boy and such a well behaved kitty but he’s been having so much trouble with a UTI and i’m feeling so frustrated as i don’t understand why he isn’t better yet. the UTI symptoms have been going on for about 3 weeks now, he’s been to the vet 4 times already. he was blocked and had to stay overnight with the catheter 2 weeks ago and has been on prazosin (a muscle relaxer) and 2 different antibiotics now. we just started the second round of antibiotics a few days ago so i’m hoping those will start to kick in but so far i’m not seeing any improvement. at least once a day he’ll be in and out of the litter box and licking himself each time he gets out. he is peeing pretty much every time he goes in, only little bits though, but i have been monitoring very carefully and in contact with the vet to make sure he isn’t getting reblocked. he also is peeing around the apartment and i’m not sure if it’s turning into a habit or if it’s still because of the UTI. he’s on a fully wet food diet (although i use prescription dry food as treats to get him to take his pills). he isn’t drinking much water either and i’ve tried nearly everything, he has a fountain, i’ve put in ice cubes, i gave him broth but he won’t drink that, i tried cups and multiple bowls around the apartment but no luck. i do add extra water to his wet food so that helps a bit. i’m so tired of seeing my poor kitty in pain, any and all suggestions are welcome!!
