My Cat can't go outside

So I have a cat who is probably one of the most important people (yes people) in my life. He's very loyal and extremely affectionate. My roommate and I technically adopted him when he randomly showed up on our patio one night three years ago and kept coming back for more cuddles. So we agreed to let him sleep in a basket outside on our patio and, since he was basically a hobo, we named him Larry after hobo Larry from Bricklebery. Now, since he was perfectly fine living outside and we didn't really own him, we never went to the vet with him. However last week he got in a fight with another animal which required him to get treatment from a vet. While we were there, we had to do a blood test and turns out Larry has FIV, the cat Version of HIV, and is now not allowed to go outside. How can I help my poor cat who was used to roaming the outdoors on the daily adapt to life inside?
