Just wanted people's thoughts.
I'm in my early twenties, a working professional in your 9 to 5 in London. I've been approved by the RSPCA for an indoor cat and there are currently some older indoor cats available for adoption. I'm seeing them tomorrow. I have done *tons* of research but am having some last minute regrets, and was hoping to talk to someone about it.
I am generally very commitment-phobic or anxious. When I got my dream job, I slept on it for 4 days before accepting just to make sure I didn't mess up. That's mainly why I'm anxious now. Nothing RSPCA has said about the potential cats make me think that they would be a lot of work or anything at all. My landlord has not made trouble at all.
However, my work is quite stressful and I will be undergoing a period of very stressful review (for two months, I'm going to have to work flat-out, including weekends) so I'm not sure it really is the right time to adopt, or if I should do it later, after the review. Also, I quite enjoy spontaneous travel so unsure if a cat would lead me to missing out on travelling when I'm young.
on the other hand, I watch cat videos every day. I have been obsessively stalking the RSPCA page for cat photos. I have always planned on having a cat.
For people who had minor anxiety over getting a pet, did it work out for you? Are there regrets about adopting a pet when you're in your early twenties?
