My mum relised our childhood parrot into the wild and I think she turned out better that way.

Not sure if that belongs here, I just wanted to tell a story that happend maybe 12 years ago. Don't worry we are not cruel people and we will never do that again.

So it was middle 2000s, I was 5 or 6, my aunt's mum bought her daughter two love birds but she didn't wanted them so she gave them to my aunt. She couldn't take their screams so she gave them to us.

Their names were maya and filip. They lived in a small cage without toys etc. Now I know that everything about this cage was wrong but we didn't knew about that.

I don't know how because I was in school but filip got hit by the cage, my sister and mum rushed him to the vet (a normal vet who knew about dogs, cats and farm animals) and he sadly died.

One day maya was in her cage outside and somehow escaped from what I know. She came back for the night so my mum thought "why not?" so from that day she was relised for the day and came back for a snack and to sleep. She became friends with wild birds and she lived a happy life. We know that she visited other cities because my mum's friend told us she saw her.

I think that it was a good idea to relise her because she was able to live her life free and make friends which are really important to parrots. Without that she would spend the rest of her life being alone and depressed in her tiny cage. I don't think she's still alive but I think It's better to make the most of your life as possible even if it's shorter than usual than live a long sad life in a cage. She was comming back home for two years before we lost contact with her.

Do I recomend it? Of course not, it's really dangerous and If I had as much knowledge about parrots as I have now her story would be much different and filip would live to this day.
