So my boyfriends family cats are all indoor outdoor cats. That brought in a very young stray female that they didnt spay. She got preggers and had her babies sometime the night before under their bathroom sink.
I spend my nights there and she kept coming into my boyfriends room and demanding attention, then if I get up to do something, she will jump up and rush to the door and stare at me while meowing. I went to pet her again and she would slowly move towards where her kittens are while I pet her meowing the entire time. So I humored her and kept going with her. She went where her kittens are and poked her head out and meowed again. So I peaked and she gave the biggest purr I've ever heard her do and looks up at me with the proudest face as she sits by her babies. Shes done this a few times (after the first time I looked at the babies I didnt poke my head in there just day nearby and she would go in and out of her nest to keep getting pets and what seems like trying to get me to follow her again.)
I've had cats all my life but only one pregnant cat when I was extremely young who also did the same thing when she had babies (even as far as walking right up to me as she had a baby halfway out of her). Is this normal behaviour for mother cats?
