Hi all! Long story, but this pandemic found me quarantined with a new cat and surprise(!) litter of kittens. It’s all a new experience, but things were going relatively smoothly until a couple of days ago, when the mother cat when into heat. Now she’s yowling 24/7 and trying to escape. It’s especially tough because the sound seems to be stressing out my other cat, who I’ve been keeping away from her.
I plan to spay her, but one or two kittens are still nursing part-time, and the vet said I have to wait until they’re all weaned. In the meantime, does anyone have any tips/tricks/advice on how to calm or quiet her while she’s in heat? I bought the pheromone plug-ins, put a heating pad in the room with her, and brush her multiple times a day. Still yowling and yowling. This is day 3 or 4, and I’m going a bit crazy. Help!
