My boyfriend and I live in apartment in a city and he’s always fully time WFH. But for the next 2 months (at least) I’m quarantined in the apartment as well. We always talked about waiting to get a dog because we want to travel and be able to go out without worrying about the well-being of a dog.
I’m still not 100% sure if I want to own a dog for the next 10+ years.. but I’m considering fostering one. From the time I was a baby there’s always been at least one dog in my life so I know how to care for them and (I think?) train them.
I’ve never gone through the fostering process so I’m not sure if it’s right for me to foster during this time.
My questions: 1. How long does the fostering last? Does it vary? 2. Does the dog already have a pre-determined home when they get to you and then it’s just a short time you care for it? 3. What if it doesn’t get adopted? I don’t want the dog to be passed around from foster to foster 4. Is it selfish to get a dog now? I think pet stores are open but if I need to go to a vet or something I don’t wanna break the stay at home order more than I need to
TLDR; can someone tell me about the dog fostering process and if it’s a good idea to leverage the stay-home order to foster a dog?
