My dog stayed with my mum for a few years and I just took him back this year when I finally got my own place that allowed pets.
Throughout the years he’s been there, he started coughing, and it became very persistent now.
He would get into a coughing fit every minute or so whenever he moves the slightest. Not one day goes by when he doesn’t cough.
Once I got him back, I only noticed how severe it was(I didn’t stay with my mom pls don’t :( judge me) and I took him to the vet immediately, but the vet said he is healthy, no worms, and that his cough is just a sign of old age, and his heart isn’t as strong as it used to be.
He then gave me some medicine for my dog that was enough for a few days and it’s been almost two months later since I’ve visited the vet and my dog started to cough more.
It’s like a harsh cough, like he’s choking and frequently ends up in a sneeze or gag.
I’m planning to visit another vet when this lockdown is over, but until then I wanted to post here to see if other owners have had similar cases?
My dog is 13 years old, toy poodle, eating well, very active, still very energetic.
