Hi there! I grew up with dogs, but have learned to love cats as an adult. Since quarantine started, one of the the most noticeable things for me is the number of adorable pet posts. My brother and mother both have adorable pups keeping their spirits up. A friend just bought a puppy. My boyfriend is a cat lover, I lived with a cat last year, and I loved caring for her. The problem is, I’m allergic. I wouldn’t want to sleep with the cat for this reason. This makes it feel like I would be a poor owner, despite how much I enjoyed spoiling my ex-roommates cat.
My mental health has been suffering, and I KNOW my mood would improve if there was an adorable little kitten (or adult kitty) here with me. I know caring for a pet will help me. I love animals, and my mother literally offered to pay for it. So I’m wondering if any of you cat owners have allergies and have been able to work through it? Do you get allergy shots? Did the allergies go away after you got used to living with them? I’m honestly willing to go out of my way to deal with it, I think it’s worth it. Any advice is welcome!
