Improving QOL for double-amputee cat?

Hey y'all, I have an awesome cat that I rescued after he was shot and went missing for 2 months, only to come back without his front legs to a home that couldn't care for him (he was a barn cat, kids were allergic so he couldn't be inside, and obviously can't live outside now).

He's very healthy and happy (and very chatty) and can get around fine for the most part by walking kind of like a t-rex. He doesn't like hard floors as they're slippery and will automatically rub his face on any and everything as he can't scratch/clean his face on his own anymore.

I briefly tried making him a skateboard type setup that he could roll around on, but it was clunky and he did NOT take well to it. I feel like there's something I could do to help him, but I'm just not sure what, and I'm not having much luck with this online. Do any of you know of similar situations?
