My Cat gets really fussy when I put a collar on her and I just moved to a new apartment complex and I’m worried about an escape?

I have this very sweet little skinny black and white cat that is 4 years old. I got her when she was a kitten and she was a rescue and she is microchipped.

She really hates wearing a collar and she gets stressed out when I put one on her. I even got an embroidered nylon collar that I took all the tags off to make it easier for her. She destroyed it so bad trying to scratch it off that it is all frayed and some of the numbers are coming undone because the embroidery is ruined. If I put it on her she becomes obsessed with trying to get it off and shakes her head and scratches at it with her back paw all day.

So right now she is naked.

I just moved to a new apartment in a big complex and there are two doors, a front door and a back door to my apartment. There also is a sliding door with a balcony and I’m on the first floor.

She seems to be adjusting well to the new place but today she tried to sneak out the front door while I was standing there. She actually stopped right as she got out like she knew not to go outside. She was always afraid of going outside.

I’m just worried about her getting out and someone not knowing what to do with her if they find her because I’m willing to bet she will kiss up to a stranger if she is scared and lost.

I also need to update the microchip because it has my old address on it and that might have to wait because of covid-19 but it does have the right phone number on it.

Any ideas on what to do? Am I overreacting????
