Almost 2 years ago I adopted a 6 month old kitten from a shelter, later a friend for him because despite being told he'd be perfect on his own. He clearly needed a friend.
During this time he was always awake at night, messing with the closet door or the blinds trying to get us to wake up, he'd occasionally pull my hair to get me to get up to play with him. Well, now it's almost 2 years later and even with a friend he still hasn't learned that when the humans go to sleep, that means no playtime (my second cat we adopted has learned this and now doesn't want to be bothered at night either) But the problem is that now it seems Demetrius (Cat 1) seems to be determined to keep my BF up all night and in general never let's him sleep in, even if I'm awake with him he runs into the bedroom to bother my BF.
The closet is on my BFs side of the bed, and Demetrius now has learned that not only is he able to open up cabinets (which we child proofed) and be obnoxious with the closet...right next to the closest is a dresser which he is some how able to open it. And I don't know what to do to get him to calm down at night and to leave my BF alone.
I'm able to sleep through a lot of this, and I've had cats wake me up in the morning like a back up alarm, Clara the other cat does this to me and she seems to not really care too much about causing chaos. But Demetrius is just determined to get my BF up, and it's driving my BF insane because he already has trouble sleeping and this just makes it worse.
Any suggestions?
