So my older sister cooks and never turns on the smoke fan even when I tell her to, which leads to the smoke alarm going off almost every time she cooks. My smoke alarm happens to be very loud and my cats don’t really react by running away, but rather they just huddle close to themselves like they’re afraid. This has been going on for a long time now, almost since when we first had them (reaching 3 years now). It sometimes happens up to 3 times a day! Concerns are, will it damage their ears? I texted one of my teachers about it out of concern (they own a lot of cats and has a lot of knowledge on them) and they said that their ears are highly directional compared to our own and that they also instinctively put walls between them and the sound and that it isn’t threatening their hearing or is dangerous. They added that they’re sure the cats don’t like the noise, but it won’t cause any damage. Is this true?
If so, should I really stop worrying about my cats whenever the smoke alarms? If not as true as I would hope, what can I do to prevent this from happening any further?
