So with the world the way it is right now I decided it would be a great time to adopt a new cat. In all seriousness, I had been looking forward to adopting a cat since late December, but hadn’t planned on getting one until my summer term was over in July, or maybe until I moved to my new apartment in August. Now all of my spring and summer classes have been moved online and I’m staying with my parents until I move, and not in the old apartment where I couldn’t have a cat. So I decided to apply to adopt a cat I had fallen in love with online.
I submitted my application at about 1 am on March 19th. A few days later on March 23, I realized that the rescue might not be in operation anymore due to the crisis. I sent an email via their website asking if they were still doing the adoptions. I got a reply two days later. It said that they are still doing adoptions because all of their animals are in foster homes and not a shelter, but that they’ve had more applications since other rescues are closed and might take longer to process them. They usually reply to applications within 72 hours of submission. I thought this was reasonable and tried to be patient and wait for a reply. It’s been two and a half weeks since I submitted my application and I have yet to be contacted about it. I know the email address and phone number I gave were correct and I know the cat I applied for hasn’t been adopted yet.
This whole situation has been kind of adding to my anxiety, which is already through the roof because of the struggle of adjusting to online college classes. I had actually been trying to get a cat to be my ESA and help manage my depression and anxiety. I don’t want to be obnoxious and take up people’s time, but I’m really starting to get frustrated with the lack of contact. Should I try to call/email the rescue again? Thanks in advance!
