My cats chill on the balcony with me from time to time. I had a close eye on them but one of them got spooked and jumped off the balcony and then ran and hid. She got out somewhat recently as well, and was lost for 5 days, so she may know the area at this point.
I found her about 10min later hiding in a bush. I tried go calmly call for her, but she ended up running away. She initially meowed at me and definitely recognized me.
The next day, I saw her again in that same bush. She once again recognized me and meowed for a bit before escaping again. She is fast and agile.
Next day, I saw her again when I got home. She was in a different bush this time, a little bit further away. Again, she ran away. I followed her for a bit but she ran under a car and disappeared and I decided to stop to keep from pushing her further from home.
I’m certain she recognizes me each time. Does she not want to come home? Is she just too scared to let me get to her? Not sure what to do. She hasn’t gone far and when she was lost before she was very close by when I found her. I’m worried I will scare her into running too far and becoming lost.
