This is a rant more than anything.
I recently moved out on my own and wanted a kitten to keep my older cat company. So I ended up adopting a 7 week old kitten. He’s adorable, sweet, friendly, and playful. I’m attached and I love him.
The problem is, my adult cat is so stressed out. He’s been hiding, won’t let me pet him, runs from everyone, puking, and using the bathroom outside of the litter box. He’s usually the most loving and affectionate cat who wants to sit right next to me/on my chest constantly. I can’t stand to see my cat I’ve had for 6 years and love dearly this upset.
I don’t want to get rid of the kitten, but I also don’t want to wait too long and get even more attached to the kitten. He’s also at a very adoptable age right now, so I’d have an easier time rehoming him now versus him being older.
Is waiting it out even an option? I know some cats need to be the only pet in the household. I just feel so guilty to even consider rehoming the kitten since I made the commitment to take care of him for the rest of his life. I feel like a terrible person.
