My dog is a 3 year old, 12 pound miniature dachshund. Ever since she was a puppy she has had cycles of eating two meals a day, no meals, two meals, one meal, etc. It’s currently been about 2-3 weeks since she’s eaten a full two meals a day. Right now, she eats about half a meal in the morning and won’t eat anything in the evening.
We’ve tried almost every kind of dog food made for small dogs that’s offered at PetCo, we’ve even tried giving her food meant for small to medium size dogs. We’ve tried putting a small amount of water in her food, no water, chicken broth, a treat in the bottom of the bowl, cheese, the list goes on.
We’ve tried moving her food bowl to different areas of the house. We’ve even tried putting her outside with her food so that maybe she would have more space and she could run around in between bites of food.
She will not eat and it’s frankly exhausting trying to think of new ways to get her to eat. We’ve spent a lot of money on different types of dog food and she still has the cycles of eating and not eating. I’m running out of ideas.
Does anyone have any suggestions of how to maybe get her to eat? Does she have some sort of condition? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
