4 week old feral kittens, okay to adopt?

My mil has a nest in her very large acre yard. Momma cat already left one behind that bil had to adopt 2 weeks ago. I have a daughter and want them to be as socialized as possible if I take one in. I've done hours of research and spent at least 200 on items for one. After looking I've seen 4-5 weeks is optimal to get them and after 4 they can be harder to tame. But I want to make sure it is a smart move. I have zero problem giving them round the clock care and feeding, but my mil keeps telling me to try to wait.

[Edit: They are still with mother currently]
