Is my cat lonely or just needing different toys?

So my family and I have a 2 year old cat that we adopted when she was a kitten. For a while, we've talked about possibly getting a second cat for her to stay entertained. With corona at least one of us is home at all times with her, but before that we were all rarely at home until around dinner (parents work full-time 9-5, I'm off at university and sister will be starting college in the fall).

Even with those changes, for the past year and a half, every night (time varies between 12am and 4am) she brings up her stuffed elephant outside of our bedrooms and starts meowing. Even if our doors are still open, she'll just stand outside in the hall and meow. Even before and after the change of schedule from corona, we always play with her. She sometimes plays with the balls and other toys we have for her, but she really likes the sticks with the strings and toys on the ends, and is the toy she plays with almost exclusively. So, we're not sure if we should get a variation of the stick toys, or if she just needs a kitten companion?

She's fine with her food, no litter box issues, and she sleeps a lot like any other cat. She also always greets whoever is coming home. We're just not sure about the times when she needs attention or is possibly bored or lonely, especially if there are times when we're out of the house or are sleeping. One thing though is that she does scratch furniture sometimes, but usually does that on the scratching post we have instead.

TLDR; 2 year old cat may be showing signs of boredom or loneliness which may require getting new kitten companion, but she may just be needing different toys instead
