8 year old cat has started hunting

Hi all, I really need some advice on what to do here.

Some background... About 2 years ago we rescued a very docile 7 year old cat. We have a microchipped cat flap so she can come and go as she pleases, and it's important to note that she HATES using a litter box - if we ever try to keep her in to collect samples for the vet etc. She'll try everything to get outside so keeping her in is not an option. She also refuses to wear a collar.

For the last three days we've had problems with her bringing in small mammals - 3 days ago it was a live bat, and yesterday and today it was a baby bird. She doesn't seem to be eating them, and she yowls when she comes in with them and generally tries to take them to us.

I'm utterly at a loss of what to do, when she's brought them in we've yelled and chased her out but it doesn't look like that's working! She's never done anything like this before, and keeping her in isn't an option.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? How do you stop your cat from brining "gifts" into the house?
