I have two cats and a dog. ( I live with my parents.) when My cats sneeze or when the family dog sneezes I tell them “Bless you.” or when my kitten is in my way when I’m trying to do something, I bend over to pet her and I tell her “Excuse me sweetie.” When my kitten is trying to tell me her toy mice are stuck under the couches she sits/ lays at where she suspects a missing cat toy is at and half of the time she is right. I stop at what I’m doing and get a dust mop and sweep out her toys if they are under the couch. She watches me the whole time and when she sees her toy fly out, she slowly blinks at me which I’ve read that is something called “ kitty kisses” I blink back at her and I tell her “Here you go kitty.” When she is wrong about where her missing toy is at where she thought it was, I try to sweep out the toy and find nothing, I look around and look at my cat, I can tell she was clearly expecting her toy, because she looks at the spot and looks at me and back at the spot. I tell her “Sorry sweetheart, I guess it’s not under there, let me try again somewhere else.” Edit: I know that animals don’t understand what you speak to them unless if you are calling their name but it feels nice being polite to an animal even though they have no clue what you are saying to them.
