Yesterday night I was sitting in the living room with my mom and brother, my brother can have really bad rage fits and sometimes takes them out on our family dogs. We have 2 golden retrievers, one is 12 and the other 3. He got up and let the dogs outside, to which they started barking, he went out and I heard him screaming at the dogs. Then the youngest comes running back in to hide by my mom, when my brother comes back in he starts talking about how the dogs never learn and he let's slip that he choked out the younger dog and that he's done it before, to the point of her passing out. I'm horrified but my mom is only slightly upset and brushes it off. I've also seen him hit the dogs on the butt and snout, not just a tap a full arm swing. I feel like i should do something, but I'm only a teenager and my brother is in his twenties. Also the older dog has a open bump/sore on her leg that she licks and I can't convince my mother to take her to the vet for it. Any advice or help would be very appreciated.
