i have a 14 year old kitty. i cant take him to the vet, due to anxiety he would have also due to his age i know they would suggest putting him down or even surgery which i dont think he deserves to go through.
Last night i noticed a swollen area next to his anus, i figured it was a tumor and was very stressed about cancer and what not. Until right now, he was cleaning himself up and licking the area and seemed to nick a hole in the swollen area with his teeth. Instantly, pus started coming out - i took him to the bathroom, washed him up with a warm washcloth and S.T37 Antiseptic the best i could. Pus keeps coming out. i looked it up, seems like he has an anal sac infection and it ruptured. I really want to get him some medication to fix this, but the antibiotics that would help like clindamycin are only available for purchase if i have a prescription from a vet.
Im at a loss!
Does anyone have any alternatives? should i just leave it alone? Will S.T37 help it? will it just go away?
This is the first time anything like this has happened! He is acting totally normal. Hunting, eating, drinking, playing, dashing around and being chatty....
The vet is a NO option, im afraid he might have a heart attack out of stress - so if you are just going to comment "take him" please don't comment.
