Do turtles absorb calcium from the water they live in?

Many turtle owners know that calcium is one of the most important minerals for turtles.

However, whenever we add calcium supplements to their food, there is a real risk of it simply dissolving in the water.

So do turtles also absorb calcium from the water they live in? Do they "drink" the water in their tanks?

If that is the case, I have an idea to just placing something with calcium (e.g. limestone) in the filter media to increase water hardness.

Would appreciate some expert advice on whether turtles do indeed absorb calcium in the water.
