Hello! I've had cats for most of my life, but now I'm in a situation where my parents and I are forced to take care of my uncle's dog.
I had no idea how he usually acts before we were forced to babysit him, and it was so last second that I couldn't even prepare my cats or dogs, so there's no baby gates or any safe spots for them. I could go on to explain how my uncle is a POS when it comes to how he treats both pets and family members, but I'm really worried about my cat right now.
My cat is in my room now after being chased by the dog a couple of times (in my defense, I had only 5 minutes at most to prepare for this, and the cat is indoor/outdoor so I didn't find him in time)
I'm hoping the dog would be picked up in time, but knowing my uncle he'll be extra late, so my cat will have to stay in overnight and a good portion of the day. My cat usually goes to be bathroom outside so I didn't need to have a litterbox, but he knows how to use one from when he was a kitten. I have cardboard boxes, but I'm not sure what to put inside for litter. What should I do? I was thinking newspaper but I don't think it would last long overnight. If anyone can help, my floor and I will be forever grateful, thank you!
