I am writing here because I am in deliberation on what to do about the above situation. I have 2 dogs that live with me and my family. I have a small dog named shadow and a bigger dog named Tank. Tank is a victorian bulldog, and my family has had him since he was born. Raising him, he was very gentle and friendly, and ofc hyper as any puppies would be. And as time passed he grew bigger, but honestly to me, size does not matter. Unfortunately at that time, my family had their own issues, and we had no choice but to give tank up to one of our nearby neighbors, who lived right next to us. However those neighbors moved into another area of the same town that I lived in. About a year after, the neighbors came back to us to give tank back, and he was still the same tank that was sweet and kind. However it was clear that there mightve been some sort of abuse, because everytime you accidentally woke him up, he would be very startled, as if he were trying to bite. Ofc I didnt really think cautious of it, as I dont really bother him while hes sleeping. now tank loves cuddling with people, and he would lay on your arm or your legs as if he were still a puppy. but recently he was cuddling on my arm while I was playing ps4, when I moved my arm to get comfortable, and he all of sudden bit my hand. im pretty sure other dog owners can relate when I say that getting bit by the same dog who you are supposed to feel safe around can make you feel doubtful being around them. however this isnt the first time he has bitten me. over the last 5 months, he has bit me over 6 times. after the 6th time, I began to feel afraid of him, as he can be very unpredictable. now I dont let him come around me, I dont let him in my room, and I really just dont feel any connection for him anymore, or my relationship with him has been tainted. everytime he does come to me, I tell him to go away or shoo, because like I said, hes very unpredictable. tank isnt my dog, so I dont have any say if he should leave the house. has anyone else been through something similar, and how can I rekindle my relationship with him and teach him that biting unpredictably is not ok?
