I posted this over in r/dogs first. I didnt know this sub existed. But basically my newly adopted dog slipped off his harness in the middle of the night when I took him out to potty. I had only had him 4 days. He's not very trusting of people, he was a hoard house rescue and I think they abused him too. I adopted him because I have plenty of time and space for him to open up and just be a dog. He's been missing for 2 weeks now and I'm surrounded by woods, like 100 plus acres. I don't think I'll ever see him again. My only hope is that he is microchipped but that chip has to get scanned for anyone to contact me. Does anyone have success/reunited stories to share? My heart hurts so bad for my dog.
