The neighborhood stray had kittens 4 days ago on my porch. There were 5 kittens total. They all seemed to be doing well when I checked on them this morning. I left for work and when I came home there were only 2 left and the mom was gone. At first I assumed she was taking them to another spot as there's quite a bit of foot traffic on my porch but then she came back and nursed the 2. She left again for a short time and now she is back and they are asleep. Its been hours and she hasn't left again and I can not locate the other 3 kittens. Is it safe to assume the other ones were sick and she took them elsewhere? Or could it be she rejected 3 of them? I've tried to find them with no luck and I can't stand the thought of them fending for themselves :(
