CAN HAMSTERS HIBERNATE IN SUMMER???!!?!! PLEASE HELP

This morning I found my hamster dead, but now I DONT KNOW IF HES DEAD OR NOT!!! I did some research on hamster hibernation and I just found out that they can hibernate in the SUMMER????!? It’s called something like AESTIVATION. He is literally in a box in my basement right now and I have no idea where in the basement cause my dad was the one who took it down! PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I will list all the information that I can to help identify his state below:

  • It was a really hot day yesterday, and he was acting strange. Running around his cage like a maniac, trying to find a cool place to lay.
  • He had acted that way before about two weeks ago, but he got better that time.
  • I found him dead this morning, at around 9 or 10 am. He was laying in one of the places where he usually sleeps, especially on hot days.
  • His body was motionless and lifeless.
  • He lay there in the same position for nearly half the day, up until the point that my parents put him in a box.
  • I kept checking on him throughout the day, hoping he would be moving or something, but his position remained the same every time I did look.
  • I didn’t know that I should’ve looked at him for 2 minutes to determine whether he was breathing or not.
  • When I did look at him though, he was very motionless. His whiskers weren’t moving at all.
  • I blew some air on him, and he still showed no signs of life.
  • I pet his back with my finger a little, and it felt different than how he normally feels. He felt stiff and cold. It was weird. It definitely didn’t seem like he was alive.
  • He also didn’t flinch when I pet him.
  • His eyes were half open half closed, but by the look of them, they looked lifeless. While looking into his eyes it literally looked like he had no more life in him. His eyes really looked dead.
  • I didn’t watch my parents handle his dead body, so I am not sure about the extent of his stiffness.
  • I just asked my mom even though it’s nearly the middle of the night, and she said that he seemed pretty stiff to her. She thinks that he’s dead.
  • It seemed that there were no signs of life at all.
  • Due to his positioning, I assumed that he died in his sleep.
  • Even though it was really hot yesterday, this wasn’t the first time it’s been such a hot day. He had lived through days much hotter (although probably the same heat), and was always fine.
  • It also cooled down during the night, which is the time I assume he died.
  • It stayed cool throughout the morning. Based on what I know, hamsters should only be in that state of summer hibernation until the temperature cools down. But I dont know if it cooled down enough although I did use my blanket though the night.
  • He would’ve been about 2 and a half years right now, which is pretty old for a hamster. It’s a common time for hamsters to go.
  • When I offered him additional water from a bottle cap yesterday, he didn’t want any and kept continuing his crazy behavior of running around like a maniac and laying down everywhere.
  • When I found him dead, his legs and bottom half seemed a little wet. It looked like he peed himself.
  • I assume that when animals die their bladders give out and release all liquid inside of them.

Ahhhh that’s really all the information I can provide.

Im so afraid that he’s not actually dead and now he’s stuck in a tiny box in my basement and it’s the middle of the night and there is no way in hell that my dad would go down to check on him right now. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!! IF YOU KNOW WHETHER HE IS DEAD OR ALIVE BASED IN THE SYMPTOMS PLEASE LET ME KNOW IM WORRIED OUT OF MY MIND AND ITS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND THERES SO MUCH TIME BEFORE MY DAD WAKES UP AND I CAN ASK HIM TO CHECK ON MY HAMSTER TO SEE IF HES STILL IN THE SAME POSITION!!

If he is though, that probably means he’s dead.. right?
