Hello, I'm very new here, both to Reddit and being a pet owner.
I recently (5 days ago as of the creation of this post) adopted a rescue cat (2 y/o male). He lived at his foster home for around a year so I thought transitioning was going to be hard. I know this is a timeframe when he's still nervous about his surroundings and is cautious, but I'm still worried about him. He eats, drinks, and pees very little. He seems very tired and is cooped up and sleeping under the desk all day, and doesn't really respond to toys, play, or food. He also keeps licking his mouth and makes smacking noises with his mouth.
His foster mom took him to the vet right before bringing him to my house, and said he was healthy. Is it possible to develop something in the five days my cat was here? Should I take him to the vet? Would that would be even more stress on top of what he's dealing with now?
I am using the exact same food, treats, and litter as his former foster home, but I haven't been able to brush his teeth or his fur because he seems to not want to be touched.
